| The Company has adopted the following policy standards
and guidelines for safety, health and environmental considerations:
Responsibilities
and Commitment
Each
member of management is accountable for ensuring that the
activities under his or her control are carried
out in accordance with the Company’s
SHE policy. They shall ensure that an appropriate organization,
with defined responsibilities
and accountabilities is established, and that the skills and
resources necessary to implement the policy are in place.
This policy shall be clearly communicated to all employees.Management
and staff are required to actively demonstrate personal responsibility
and commitment to preventing harm to people and the environment.
Management
of SHE
The management of SHE issues shall be integrated
into all areas of business activity. The Company maintains a SHE management
system including a SHE
policy based on legislation and the Company's requirements. In the absence
of relevant
legislation, the Company shall act responsibly and ethically and ensure
that industry good practice is applied.
Management systems shall identify SHE related hazards and environmental impacts
that arise from all the activities undertaken. These shall be assessed and
appropriate procedures and arrangements put in place to eliminate or control
the risks and reduce the impacts.
Management shall ensure that staff are trained and have the necessary understanding
and skills to carry out their work safely and with due regard for the environment.
Arrangements shall be in place for investigating all injuries, incidents, cases
of occupational illness and any complaints from regulatory authorities or members
of the public. Appropriate action shall be taken to prevent recurrence and
to retain any relevant information.
There shall be a process of review to ensure that controls remain effective
and that areas for improvement are identified and integrated into Business
plans. SHE improvement plans and objectives shall be drawn up and implemented
by management.
Communications
and Consultation
The Company shall communicate openly
with all interested parties to enable a mutual understanding of its
operations and their concerns.
Management shall have processes for consulting with employees on SHE matters
in order to encourage their involvement and commitment and to provide them
with information.
Arrangements shall be established to ensure that relevant information
is available on the SHE effects of the Company’s products
and activities.
The Company shall maintain records of its SHE performance, provide regular
SHE reports and ensure immediate notification of any serious injury or incident
according to Company requirements.
Risk
Management
There
shall be adequate arrangements to ensure that all other risks arising
from work related activities are recognized and action
taken to prevent harm.
The SHE factors associated with the provision of our services shall be
managed responsibly and ethically. Information on the hazards of materials
and products
shall be provided to enable safe use, transport and storage.
The nature and scale of potential emergencies shall be identified and formal
plans, that are adequately rehearsed, put in place to deal with them. In the
event of an emergency, protecting people and the environment shall be regarded
as the highest priority. A SHE assessment shall form part of any proposal for
acquisition or divestment.
Environmental
Impact Reduction
The Company shall economize on the use
of natural resources and work to minimize the impact on the environment.
Management shall identify the environmental impacts arising from
the Company’s activities and develop plans to control and
reduce them, which shall include consideration of the efficient
use of materials
and energy, the substitution
of hazardous materials, management of wastes and emissions and
the protection of soil and groundwater.
Environmental impacts shall be considered during the development, acquisition
and marketing of new products and services.
Subcontractors
and Suppliers
SHE
considerations shall be taken into account during the selection of contractors
and suppliers to ensure that competent partners are selected.
SHE
Auditing and Monitoring
There shall be regular monitoring to ensure that there are effective
arrangements in place for preventing harm to people and the environment.
Findings from monitoring programs shall be followed up and corrective action
taken where improvement is required. Information from monitoring programs shall
also be used by management as part of their assessment of compliance with the
Company's policy and SHE management standards.
Annual
Review and Improvement Plans
The Company shall
have arrangements in place for reviewing the overall effectiveness
of its management system, which shall include an annual
review that examines
all aspects of performance, compliance with legal and company requirements
and progress against objectives. The review must enable the formulation
of objectives and the development of improvement plans.
On an annual basis, management shall assess the Company’s
performance and policy and determine future SHE priorities for
the Company.
